When will you ship my order?
Some of our goods are ready to ship the moment you order them and are labeled as such in the product description. We will ship these items within 3-5 days of your order being placed, and you should receive them 7-10 days after they ship. Custom and made-to-order items are made to your specifications and require 4-6 weeks for production and an additional 7-10 days for shipping.
How long does it take to make ______?
This is one of the most common questions asked about handmade products, and it has no short answers. Generally, it takes 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the physical size of the product, but that too will vary since our products represent a culmination of many different iterations and processes.
Included in these are the more abstract, albeit necessary practices of imagining, theorizing, discussing, sketching, and sampling. Add to that our technically rigorous dyeing, weaving, and finishing methods (which you’ll find more about here), and the quantifiable hours may start to feel overwhelming. Custom products require the same processes above plus any additional time needed to work with you and make sure that the product perfectly reflects you or the intended recipient.
All this to say that we love what we do here at WE GATHER. Our processes are filled with joy, inquisition, meditation, and celebration of its own kind, and we hope the value of that is reflected in our products.
How can I order a custom product?
Send us an email and tell us more about what you’re dreaming of. This will be the beginning of our conversation, and we will reply within 1 to 3 days with estimated pricing and next steps.
What kinds of materials do you use?
We use only natural fiber yarns, primarily cotton, silk, and wool. We love these materials because they come with a history - humans have been using these fibers to clothe, protect, and warm themselves for tens of thousands of years. We’re proud to take part in that lineage.
Our dyes are fiber-reactive synthetic dyes. This particular type of dye is low-impact, water system-safe, and is safe to wear or use right next to your skin.
All of our materials, including our packaging where possible, are American-made.
How do I care for my WE GATHER textile?
All of our products are functional textiles and are meant to be used, loved, and shared. That means that they may not remain forever pristine, and that’s ok. Every touch, every drip, every tug transforms your WE GATHER product into your textile. And just like all of us, WE GATHER textiles will change over time. Fibers may soften, colors may fade or change, your use and love will make them into heirlooms.
Should a mishap occur, simply spot clean small areas by dabbing with lukewarm water and mild detergent. For further cleaning, machine or hand wash cold with mild detergent and air dry or dry on low. It’s best to avoid wringing out handwoven textiles.
Can I return my purchase?
Here at WE GATHER, we aim to inspire joy and spread the love and celebration. If your purchase does not live up to these standards, we are happy to work with you to fix or exchange your product. However, because our products are 100% handmade and often created specifically for an individual, we can not accept returns.
Does the Plocket come with a plant?
Yes! Every Plocket comes with a thoughtfully selected air plant. We have partnered with one of our favorite local businesses, Stems Brooklyn, to provide you with healthy, top-quality air plants. Your air plant will come packed in a plastic bag for protection during shipping.
How do I take care of this plant?
The air plants that come with our Plockets are resilient, air-breathing beings. While your plant will survive an occasional oversight, it does need some attention.
Despite its name, the air plant is a thirsty little creature and will do best when regularly watered. When you receive your air plant, soak it first in a bowl of water for 30-40 minutes, and let it dry before placing it in your Plocket. Soak your plant this way about every two weeks. Spritz your air plant with water every 3-4 days in between soaks.
Your air plant loves bright and indirect light, and it will thrive most when placed near a window or fluorescent light source. Give your air plant some love, perhaps even give it a name, and enjoy your new plant friend in its WE GATHER Plocket home.
Where can I see WE GATHER textiles in person?
We occasionally participate in local sales, fairs, and trunk shows. Follow us on Instagram to keep tabs on our next appearance. If you are really jonesing to see our products right now, contact us.
Do you send swatches or color approvals?
We do not provide swatches or color approvals for WE GATHER products. Should your custom order require this service, we are happy to work it into the project cost. If you are interested in obtaining swatches or samples outside of our custom process, send us a note.
